Basic Contract in Nepal

Contracts for teaching positions should include provisions for the following: salary, housing, airplane tickets home, working hours, class size, severance pay, taxes, and medical insurance. If these items are not included in the original contract document, you may want to try to have them added. If the employer refuses, this could be a sign of the future and you may want to think twice about taking the job. It is possible you will have to work a little harder to find people who will agree to a clear and specific contract, but they are out there. Regardless of the traditional attitude toward contracts, nothing beats getting it in writing.

Contracts are generally for one year and may be extendable depending on circumstances. Before signing the contract, do read the clauses very carefully and understand what you will be offered during your teaching stint.
